Hand-crafted. Hand-chosen. Hand-held. Handed-down.

From heritage to harvest, hands create the stories that encapsulate a place. When we share the labor of the wine harvest, or crush cochineal beside a local weaver, our stories intersect. At Figora, that's where every journey begins.

The name Figora derives from our founder’s Mediterranean roots and reflects two ideas that shape our philosophy: the fig tree that symbolizes hospitality and the agora, the gathering place at the heart of ancient Greece.

Together, they represent what every Figora experience becomes—an invitation to discover a place through its culture, connect with the people who shape it, and experience the world from the inside out.

Kate Columbus

The former Director of Experiences for boutique travel operator, Modern Adventure, Kate has organized trips on 6 continents. Her boots-on-the-ground mentality has seen her lead experiences in Oaxaca, Buenos Aires, Copenhagen, Tbilisi, Joshua Tree, Santa Fe, Porto, Mexico City, Mendoza and a handful of other astonishing places.

Equal parts vagabond and visiting dignitary, Kate is allergic to bucket lists. Rather than queuing to nab a selfie at the latest hotspot, she’ll be eating her weight in empanadas in Salta, rubbing elbows with perfume-makers in Marrakesh or falling in love all over again with tinned fish in Matosinhos. When she’s not in the field researching her next trip, you can find her practicing her Spanish and Greek and talking to plants.
